The Rotary Club 5110 is making a positive difference in the local community with its “Paying It Forward” initiative. Through this initiative, they have provided grants and matching funds to purchase literacy and math resources for three local elementary schools, two public libraries, and the Reach Out and Read program at the Sanford Children’s Clinic. Additionally, fifty spring break food boxes have been packed for Bloom. This act of selflessness and community upliftment is setting a great example for others to follow while providing much-needed resources to those in need. The literacy and math resources will help create a brighter future for the students, while the food boxes will provide a much-needed resource to Bloom. This initiative is sending a powerful message that small acts of kindness can have a major impact. Through the Rotary Club 5110’s selfless act, they are making a positive difference in the lives of many.

Aluminum boat manufacturing, National Parks, Crater Lake, design, construction.
Travis Hamlyn, CEO of Hellgate Jet Boats, will discuss the two aluminum boat manufacturing companies he oversees and their role in designing and building tour boats for Crater Lake. He will explain the design elements and construction of the boats and how they will reduce environmental impacts while providing an improved experience for visitors. Additionally, Travis will give an overview of Hellgate Jet Boats’ history and company. The boats have been designed with the National Parks in mind, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for the guests while preserving the pristine nature of the lake. Hellgate Jet Boats is committed to providing the best possible products while helping to maintain the integrity of the lake.
Oregon history, artifacts, Senator Bob Dole, Executive Director, Kerry Tymchuk.
Kerry Tymchuk, the Executive Director of the Oregon Historical Society, will be sharing stories and artifacts from Oregon’s past at a special event. He will also be discussing his experiences working for the late Senator Bob Dole. Tymchuk has a unique perspective on Dole as both a longtime aide and friend. The event promises to provide a fascinating glimpse into both Oregon’s history and the life of a politician. Attendees will get to hear stories and see artifacts from Oregon’s past as well as some of Tymchuk’s personal experiences with Dole. This is sure to be an engaging and informative event for history buffs, political enthusiasts, and anyone curious about the past.
Revival of racing history in Southern Oregon.
In 2021, Travis Snyder and a local group of race car drivers and enthusiasts formed Southern Oregon Motor Sports with the goal of reviving the Southern Oregon Speedway. The Speedway had been left without a promoter in 2019 after over 60 years of racing history. Southern Oregon Motor Sports competed against multiple organizations for the county’s RFP (Request for Proposal) to manage and operate the Speedway. They were successful in their bid and are now working to bring back the excitement of local racing. Snyder will recount his experience in how all of this happened, from the formation of the organization to the winning of the RFP. Southern Oregon Motor Sports is set to be a major contributor to the racing culture in Southern Oregon and will ensure that the Speedway remains a vibrant, exciting and safe racing venue.
Helping Ukraine refugees in Medford.
The Rotary Club of Medford is hosting a lunch meeting on February 14th at the Rogue Valley Country Club to discuss the efforts of Uniting for Ukraine Rogue Valley. This grassroots organization has been successful in bringing 12 Ukrainian refugee families to the Rogue Valley. Dr. Scott Bandoroff will be the keynote speaker and will talk about the work that has been done to make this possible. This event is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.
Uniting for Ukraine Rogue Valley is a grassroots organization that was created to help Ukrainian refugees in the Rogue Valley. She has been an active advocate for the Rotary’s mission of service and has worked to bring people together to support the organization’s values and goals. During the meeting, she will provide an update on the District and Rotary’s global activities. She will also discuss the organization’s initiatives and projects that are taking place worldwide.
