In 2021, Travis Snyder and a local group of race car drivers and enthusiasts formed Southern Oregon Motor Sports with the goal of reviving the Southern Oregon Speedway. The Speedway had been left without a promoter in 2019 after over 60 years of racing history. Southern Oregon Motor Sports competed against multiple organizations for the county’s RFP (Request for Proposal) to manage and operate the Speedway. They were successful in their bid and are now working to bring back the excitement of local racing. Snyder will recount his experience in how all of this happened, from the formation of the organization to the winning of the RFP. Southern Oregon Motor Sports is set to be a major contributor to the racing culture in Southern Oregon and will ensure that the Speedway remains a vibrant, exciting and safe racing venue.
