Dear Rotarian,
Do you have vivid memories of a theatre that not only provided memorable entertainment but also had an ambiance that heightened your experience? I was given a tour of the Holly Theatre not long after moving to the Valley and I can only imagine what it would have been like to see a show back in the day at the Holly!
To think the theatre was originally built just weeks after the start of the Great Depression astounds me! The attention to detail even down to the painting of the Venetian mural in the auditorium takes my breath away. If those walls could reveal their secrets over the decades, what a story they would tell! This 1930’s movie palace could seat 1/10th of Medford’s population at the time and upon restoration, will be Southern Oregon’s largest indoor concert venue.
On Tuesday, you will have the pleasure of hearing Randy McKay, Executive Director of Jefferson Live, provide an update on the current restoration project and how the Holly will impact the Rogue Valley and the economic development of the area.
I am sad I will be away on business travels and will miss this great program. I leave you in the capable hands of our Club’s President Elect, Denise Stanford, for this meeting.
Until next week,
Michelle Corradetti, President
