Dear Rotarian,
For me personally, a life worth living is to continually strive to be a better person in all aspects and appreciate those special moments of pure happiness, connection, and love, in addition to making a positive difference in the lives I touch. For others that are fighting depression or mental illness, life is a challenge and it is difficult for them to see beyond the hopelessness they feel. Suicide is among the leading causes of death in the United States and it is predicted that this year the rate of death will increase to one every 20 seconds.
This Tuesday, we will hear how our local media is attempting to make a difference on the topic of suicide prevention and reporting. Bob Wise, General Manager and Blakely McHugh of KOBI TV will talk about why the stigma surrounding suicide is still rampant how the media can help break down the stigma and to report on suicide in a safe way.
Please join me this Tuesday to hear about this important topic and join in Rotary fellowship. In gaining a better understanding, we will be better equipped to help a person in need and possibly save a life. Everyone deserves a chance to find happiness in this lifetime and have the dark cloud of hopelessness dissipate.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Michelle Corradetti, President
