Good morning PDG Chuck – I first would like to thank you for the blessing Rotary District 5110 has been to Rotary Club of Limbe over the last couple years. You have sponsored Mr. Pax Matipwiri through his Masters of Public Health at Oregon State University and Dr. Chimwemwe Kumwenda begins her Peace Scholarship at University of North Carolina shortly. Your district and specifically the Medford, Oregon Club purchased the Ambulance for Malamulo Hospital. These we do not take for granted.
It is because of your affinity for Malawi and District 5110’s amazing partnership with District 9210 that I write you in request of Rotary relief assistance. As we spoke earlier, the countries that make up our District have been heavily hit by Cyclone Idai. I saw CNN had a spot about the catastrophe. It has become a globally recognized tragedy and one where Rotary can take the lead and set an example.
Below, I have attached:
- Disaster Relief Appeal Letter
- March District News Letter (Report by DG Hutch)
- A couple reports that we have from WHO Data.
The letter from President Eric will be able to clearly state our request to our sister clubs in District 5110. I am asking only that you would be the conduit by which our request makes it to the clubs and that an appeal be made for their assistance, above and beyond what they are currently giving towards worthy projects around the world.
Thanks again Chuck for agreeing to consider our request. I am thankful to be in Rotary with you and know that together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected. We are already beginning to get moneys and materials from Atlanta, UK, Europe and Malawian organizations.
Regards,
RTN Jason
