Rotary like every organization is monitoring the global spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. As your District leadership we have been in close contact with Rotary International and with information being released from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). In an effort to help inform our members we will be providing ongoing updates of the information as we learn from others. The President of the US Chamber of Commerce earlier this week communicated to their members to be “Be prudent, be prepared, and don’t overreact.” This sounds like good advice for all of us.
It’s time to recognize outstanding leaderhip, service and volunteerism in Rotary District 5110. Awards that examplify acts of “Service Above Self” will be named at the District Celebration, May 1-3 in Eugene. Download the specific awards, criteria and nominations process

We have the opportunity to produce a network-ready District 5110 30-second television spot to help all clubs recruit members in your communities ….. and we want your club participating….our producer Ryan Postma of Eugene’s Attic Media has provided further tips on how to accommodate the script and provide us with footage that could well end up as part of the production.
On Tuesday, I was honored to attend with DGN Gerry Kosanovic, PDG Bill and Linda Grile, several other visiting club presidents and assistant governors, the Rotary Club of Coosbay/Northbend where Club President Eva Shimotakahara invited Dr. Sylvia Whitlock, the first woman Rotary President to be their guest speaker.
You answered the call to participate in the Rotary Fellowship Exchange trip to New Orleans and next offering in the program is an October trip to District 9350 to visit Swellendam – the oldest city in South Africa, round the Cape of Good Hope and see some of the animal parks and visit the town of Capetown, its beautiful botanical gardens and cable car ride!
