District Awards– The District Leadership has extended the Awards Nomination deadline to June 30.
The Coos Bay North Bend Rotary Club has donated boxes of medical supplies to the emergency response team at Coos County Health and Wellness on March 18. The Rotary typically ships these surplus supplies to foreign countries, but with the coronavirus affecting the community they decided to help out locally. The effort warranted television and website coverage by KCBY-TV in Coos Bay (see this link for both reports:
Rotarians serving Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Lincoln City & Newport are well positioned to assist with an urgent community need as a result of COVID-19. Samaritan Health Services (SHS), like all of our nations’ health systems, are in need of surgical masks. This has been well documented by the media and across social-media groups.
New Southtowne members were the recipients of a District $500 grant for a local service project. But, because of the CoronaVirus, things changed rapidly! What started out with our six new members embarking on a project to assemble and deliver food boxes to 35 families during Spring Break (the week of March 23rd). The project mushroomed into a more urgent need overnight. Children weren’t in school so they weren’t getting those meals. We couldn’t wait until “Spring Break.”
The District 5110 Rotary Friendship Exchange team to District 3850 Philippines has returned filled with warm experiences of friendship and hospitality. Hard to believe so much depth of connection can be fit into so little time.
