DG Rick has secured a Zoom.com account for our District committees, Assistant Governors and Club Presidents to utilize in holding online meetings. We are seeing many of our clubs moving to creative meetings online with speakers, trainings and learning opportunities. It may help create the next interactive Rotary experience as a future way of Rotary.

District Awards– The District Leadership has extended the Awards Nomination deadline to June 30.
District Grants and Foundation – District Foundation Committee Chair Tim Mobley is working to keep these opportunities before our members and communities.
District Voices – Judy Corwin and her Public Image Team are working to put in place a COVID-19 Blog area on our D5110 website.
Rotary Business to Rotary Business help – Dan Smith of the E-Club of Jefferson is in the midst of enhancing the Rotary Business-to-Business online directory as a way to help support our Rotary members and their businesses in this difficult time at 5110b2b.org/

The homepage of the District Website has changed. A new section, called Rotary Heroes: Covid-19, has been added. It is place for clubs to tell us about service projects and volunteer efforts to help our communities. If you have a new story to tell, please use the contact us form titled Tell Us Your Story.

Included is this new section is the opportunity for anyone to comment about a project. Click here to read more details!

The Coos Bay North Bend Rotary Club has donated boxes of medical supplies to the emergency response team at Coos County Health and Wellness on March 18. The Rotary typically ships these surplus supplies to foreign countries, but with the coronavirus affecting the community they decided to help out locally. The effort warranted television and website coverage by KCBY-TV in Coos Bay (see this link for both reports: https://kcby.com/news/local/rotary-gives-medical-supplies-to-coos-county-responders-instead-of-sending-them-abroad)

Rotarians serving Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Lincoln City & Newport are well positioned to assist with an urgent community need as a result of COVID-19. Samaritan Health Services (SHS), like all of our nations’ health systems, are in need of surgical masks. This has been well documented by the media and across social-media groups.

New Southtowne members were the recipients of a District $500 grant for a local service project. But, because of the CoronaVirus, things changed rapidly! What started out with our six new members embarking on a project to assemble and deliver food boxes to 35 families during Spring Break (the week of March 23rd). The project mushroomed into a more urgent need overnight. Children weren’t in school so they weren’t getting those meals. We couldn’t wait until “Spring Break.”

The District 5110 Rotary Friendship Exchange team to District 3850 Philippines has returned filled with warm experiences of friendship and hospitality. Hard to believe so much depth of connection can be fit into so little time.

The Louisiana RFE is being postponed and dates will be announced soon. The tentative October trip to South Africa is still accepting commitments. Incoming teams from Atlantic States Canada in May and Louisiana in July are still on the tentative schedule but we will continue to look at conditions and with the safety of all foremost in mind.
