Here is a call for all clubs to alert their Public Image chairs that we need video footage of your club at work in your communities and abroad! We have the opportunity to produce a network-ready District 5110 30-second television spot (thank you to Sandi Black of the Southtowne club and her connection to Ryan Postma at Eugene’s Attic Media) that can be used throughout our local TV markets. The message will be high-energy, diverse, engaging and applicable to introduce Rotary to your area and recruit your future local Rotarians.

We need quality footage (even from a late model iPhone) of your club in action at some of your signature events. When shooting and sending it to us, be thinking of the following:

• These shots will be used in very short edits (probably seconds on average).
• Do not pose these shots, they need to be candid and provide instant recognition of the great community work being done.
  • Example: The Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis club reads Dr. Seuss to the thousands of young children in our local 509J school district appropriately on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The videos in this case need to center on Rotarians with the Cat-in-the-Hat hat reading the Seuss book to a K-3 class with the kids’ back to the camera (you don’t want to have to deal with video releases for non-Rotarians and their children).
• Do not include signage of your area or your club that will be easily recognizable….this needs to be all about Rotary and the action as it needs to assist in promotion of Rotary and the recruitment of Rotarians in all District 5110 clubs
• Do not include scenery that will be easily recognizable for the very same reason….again all about the energy and the action.
• Emphasize diversity within your club…..let’s break the old stereotypes of Rotary with this quick message…..that means old white hairs like me need to be on the camera not in front of it 🙂

Mayan children in remote villages of Guatemala’s mountainous Western highlands seldom acquire sufficient Spanish language proficiency in government-run elementary schools to continue their studies in middle and high schools.

Dr. SylviaWhitlock , the first female to serve as the president of a Rotary club, will be visiting Coos Bay to share a presentation titled “Edge of Tomorrow”. She will speak at Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Coos campus, 1988 Newmark Ave., on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 6:00 pm in the Hales Center for the Performing Arts.
