District 5110 Rotarians have collectively put 220 families that lost their homes, work tools, and business establishments in the September wildfires back to work. Occupations ranging from carpentry, home remodel, landscaping, forestry, house cleaning, auto repair, electrical services, hardware stores, and more were re-tooled so that families could return to work to support their families.

Two District Fire Relief Funds have been established to collect and administer relief where most needed throughout Oregon: the D5110 Fire Relief Fund and the United Rotary Clubs of Southern Oregon Fire Relief Fund.

This has been a challenging year for high school students with most having been forced to attend school virtually, but Rotary District 5110 is excited to present this year’s 4-Way Test speech contest in order to provide the same wonderful opportunities to the students within our district.

Registration forms are now being accepted, and clubs are scheduling contests at their local level which will be held in March and April. The local level contests will be held virtually, or in a safe distanced environment in compliance with the local protocol in the individual club’s location.

We are cautiously optomistic that we can hold the finals in person during our District Conference Celebration May 28, but that will obviously be dependent on how things develop. Please help spread the word to the schools in your community and let’s make this a great year for our District 4-Way Test speech contest! With all of the hardships our students have endured this past year, it’s more important than ever to provide them with opportunities to grow while promoting the positive messages that our 4-Way test conveys! Any resolution to come before the District at the District Conference must be distributed to all member clubs of the District by the District Resolution Committee at least one month prior to the District Conference. To disseminate any resolutions as required, the resolution committee must receive the proposed resolutions at least 45 days prior to the District Conference so the resolution can be reviewed by the committee to ensure it complies with the Constitution and By-laws of Rotary International and District policies.

To be eligible for consideration under Article II §2 of the District 5110 Policy Manual, the resolution must be submitted to the District Governor before March 16, 2021. Any submitted resolution will be distributed to the District Resolutions Committee by March 21, 2021. By March 31, 2021, any submitted resolutions will be disseminated to club presidents, past district governors, and members of the DG team.
