Celebrating Rotarians: Virtual Award Ceremony Announced

On Wednesday, September 15 at 5 pm we will pause to celebrate the accomplishments of many Rotarians who over the past year have contributed to the mission of Rotary in their Clubs, in their home towns, across the District, and globally. The celebration will be via Zoom and a link invitation will be sent to all Rotary Members. Tune in to help celebrate the accomplishments of many.
District Secretary Beth Sheehan (left in photo), Development Coordinator for the Eugene Mission and Member of the Eugene Delta Rotary received a Rotary Peace Pole in recognition for her substantial efforts in gleaning foods, distributing foods and recruiting Rotary volunteers from multiple Clubs to help those in need during the COVID pandemic. Beth also one of seven individuals to receive the Rotarian of Year Award for her leadership of the “Rotary Steps Together” virtual fundraising campaign last fall, breaking new ground in the area of virtual fundraising.
Past President Kim Meyers of the Eugene Delta Rotary was also presented a Peace Pole for her continued and long-term commitment to community service at the Owens Rose Garden. DGN Jim Polk of the Cave Junction Rotary (right in photo) received another of the seven Rotarian of the Year Awards for his exemplary service as District Treasurer, administering the record keeping for the “Rotary Steps Together” campaign, assisting when needed with the RYLA program budget, and as well as providing critical oversight for the Youth Exchange budget.

It’s commonly believed that you must be retired in order to manage the responsibilities of serving as a District Governor.This is understandable because being a DG is definitely a huge commitment. But it’s NOT impossible to work full-time AND serve as a District Governor.

President Dave Henderer is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Double-Sustainer of The Rotary Foundation, and Polio Plus Society Member. In his profession, Dave is a respected professional. The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) recently recognized Henderer Design + Build as Regional Contractor of the Year in four different categories.
