Southtowne Eugene Supports Ukraine With Medical Supplies
by Kierstin Lindkvist and KVAL.com Staff on a televised report of March 24
In support of Ukraine, the Southtowne Eugene Rotary Club sent medical supplies overseas this past weekend and they’re planning to do it again. The medical supplies are coming from local hospitals like McKenzie Willamette and Riverbend, and would otherwise end up in the landfill. Click here to watch KVAL-TV of Eugene and their coverage of the effort.
Most of the materials being donated are emergency use items like crutches, bandages, and syringes. They said the last shipment was sent in two 40-foot trucks. Right now, they are overfilled with supplies and are more than happy to donate to relief efforts in Ukraine.
Club Presidents & People of Action– as we prepare for the District 5110 2022 Celebration Conference in Corvallis, it is our intent to merge a service project with our April 30th event, one that would have a defining humanitarian focus of serving others in need.
To that end, I am thrilled to announce that we have partnered with the Red Cross to establish a rewarding, fulfilling, fun competitive virtual blood drive: District Drives to Save Lives. This event will begin on March 22nd and conclude on April 28, 2022. It is easy and simple for club members to participate and, most importantly, it will save lives!
