Literacy Initiatives of the Rotary Club of Medford
The Rotary Club of Medford is deeply committed to fostering early childhood literacy in our community. From providing students with dictionaries to partnering with leading literacy programs, we are dedicated to supporting the development of young minds. One of our most impactful initiatives is the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that brings the joy of reading directly into the homes of families throughout Jackson County.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
In collaboration with the United Rotary Clubs of Southern Oregon, Jackson County Library Services, and the Jackson County Library Foundation, we are proud to help bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to our community. This incredible book gifting program mails a free book every month to children from birth to age five, helping spark a lifelong love of reading.
Why Early Literacy Matters
The first five years of life are a crucial time for brain development, with studies showing that early educational experiences play a key role in shaping a child’s future. By providing children with quality books and fostering a positive reading environment at home, we are unlocking tremendous potential for both the children and our entire community.
How to Register Your Child
Every child under the age of five in Jackson County is eligible to receive these monthly books, completely free of charge. You can easily register in one of two ways:

The first book every child receives is Dolly Parton’s favorite, The Little Engine That Could, a timeless story that inspires perseverance and positivity.
