An informational flyer is attached, which includes registration information.
The Oregon Peace Trail has developed as a collaboration with David Gershon and Peace on Earth by 2030, The Peace Game, The Rotary Peace Pole Project and the team of Al Jubitz, Larry Strober and David Wick, known as the 3 Amigos!
David Wick, from Ashland in District 5110, is a former president of the E-Club of World Peace and is the current President of the United Nations NGO Pathways to Peace.
David Gershon, co-founder and CEO of the Empowerment Institute, has been called “the number one expert on social change on the planet”. In 1986, David organized, at the height of the Cold War, the passing of a torch of peace around the world. The First Earth Run, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund, directly engaged twenty-five million people and 45 heads-of-state in 62 countries. Over a billion people watched the torch via the media circumnavigate the globe.
The Oregon Peace Trail is designed to provide a unified peacebuilding platform for the 120 Rotary clubs in Oregon. The non-contiguous Trail will be 296 miles long, beginning at the end of the Oregon Trail in Oregon City and terminating at the World Peace Flame in Ashland, Oregon.
Rotarians around the world are planning their own peace trails and are watching our progress very closely. So is Stephanie Urchick. David Gershon will be making the presentation on January 8th, 2025.Please invite members of your club to join us. The Oregon Peace Trail will be featured at the District 5100 Expo in May 2025 and at the Rotary Convention in Calgary next June!
