We’re thrilled to announce that the Imagination Library of Oregon has secured the resources needed for the 2025-27 biennium! This vital funding will ensure that the state match can be sustained for the next two years so we can continue to deliver books to children across Oregon.
While HB 2811 did not advance out of the Joint Committee on Ways & Means, we plan to reintroduce it in the 2026 short session. Our goal is for the Imagination Library to be formally recognized in Oregon statute, securing its status as a priority for years to come.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Governor Kotek’s Office, Majority Leader Ben Bowman, and Senator Courtney Neron Misslin for their invaluable support in championing our mission within the Oregon Legislature. Their commitment has been instrumental in ensuring the continued success of the Imagination Library across the state.
And, a very special “thank you” goes to YOU: our Local Program Partners, supporters, and advocates. Your collective voices made a significant impact, truly embodying the grassroots spirit Dolly Parton envisioned for this program. Thanks to your unwavering dedication, over 68,000 children in Oregon will continue receiving books, sparking joy, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading!
This commitment makes it possible to grow the program, launch new enrollment efforts for 147,000 more eligible children, and fuel exciting initiatives statewide. These initiatives include the recent launch of our English/Spanish bilingual collection and fostering new partnerships and collaborations that help us reach more families than ever before.
As Dolly says, ‘You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.’ Thank you for making this vision a reality in your community.
In appreciation,
Kaylee Chrystal – Community Engagement Coordinator
Laurie McNichols – State Director
