Doug Foster with the Crater Rock Museum informed fellow rotarians about the rich history of our valley’s ancient forests.
Over 1900 petrified wood specimens have been collected spanning the Eocene (56 million years ago) to the Miocene (5 million years ago) periods. Interestingly enough, there once grew tropical hardwoods, palm trees and tree ferns in the Rogue Valley. Thank you Doug!
