Given tomorrow’s program, it brings to mind the year we were contacted twice to evacuate due to fires in our area in Southwest Reno as well as one of our favorite movies we try to watch every St. Patrick’s Day. The movie is an Irish-American romantic comedy titled “Leap Year” with actors Amy Adams and Matthew Goode. You may ask, why watch “Leap Year” on St. Patrick’s Day?? That’s just the crazy tradition we started given I am part Irish and my daughter insists!
The pivotal question that comes to mind from the movie is “If your house was on fire and you only had 60 seconds, what would you grab?” My daughter was 11 at the time and she grabbed our 2 cats, their cat carriers, and prescription cat food. I was so impressed and luckily, both times, the fire did not reach our neighborhood.
For tomorrow’s program, we will have Lee Mills discuss Disaster Preparation. Our meeting will be held in the Oaks Room.
Amy Adams quoted in the movie, “I had everything I ever wanted, but nothing I really needed.”
My question to you is, what items would you grab if your house was at risk of burning to the ground? Who would you save first? What is really important in your life?
Please join me for tomorrow’s meeting!
