In 1997 then President Tim Gerking sent Doug Smith, Marc Bayliss and Ed Lassman to help establish Rotary in the Petropavlovsk Kamchatka located in the Far East of Siberia.
Over twelve years $18,000,000 of medical, pharmaceutical and humanitarian aid was delivered through our club’s efforts and RI to this isolated region of Russia. Our critical contact and the founding leader of Rotary in the Russian far East and is facing further decimation of her family resources due to her husband’s cancer treatments in South Korea.
In order to help Tatyana, Marc and Doug will be selling items from their adventures in Russia on 18 December 2018. Siberian Snowflake pins and other jewelry will be for sale for $15 and up. Collector bottles with “unknown content” will be for sale. Classic Russian Vostok mechanical watches and cultural artwork will also be available.
This is not an official Rotary fundraising event. There is no tax deduction for the purchase/donation, but the items are unique and would make nice gifts both to the recipient and to our Russian rotary colleague.
