Membership and New Club Development month (August) is off to a good start in the Rotary Club of Medford! Last week distinguished members Charlie Versteeg and Tom Carter gave us a great update on our club foundation and how it works to change the lives of our scholarship recipients. Kim O’Gara gave a special inspiration and we got to hear from John Chmelir’s granddaughter, Nicola, about her Eagle Scout project to gather supplies for foster children in our community. Passing the baskets supported her efforts by $500. Mike Pastryk shared an invitation to our club social on August 20. Check our website for details and please sign up. We’d love to see you. Ron Hren reported on his meeting with Habitat for Humanity and possible partnership opportunities for us. Finally. we received a special email from Anuparb Lorwong-ngam, President- Elect of the Kanchanaburi Rotary Club in Thailand. He was a Rotary exchange student to our club in 1994 and shared how that experience was life changing for him. Kanchanaburi is a city of approximately 30,000 on the River Kwai in Thailand. Exchange visit possibility?
This week’s meeting will be very important to the future of our club. We will have a club assembly on membership recruitment and retention as well as how to meet member needs and improve individual member engagement. We need your ideas and help. I will report on my work with our remarkable member Tisha Oehmen and what we’re doing to make our website even more helpful and engaging for members and the community where we’re trying to create more hope.
GO TO rotarymedford.org AND CHECK IT OUT! You might even see yourself doing great work and THANK YOU! Check the calendar for our upcoming great programs, think of a friend or associate who might like to join us and invite them to be your guest. Each of these meetings in August promises to be special. See you Tuesday!
