The traditional start of the Rotary year, since 1913, begins with the month of July. It is at this time that the leadership baton is passed to the new club President and to the new District Governor. I am honored to be the person that received the baton from Past District Governor Cindi O’Neil who served District 5110 with impeccable distinction.
To that end, as your new District Governor, I welcome everyone to the new Rotary year, and I congratulate all in leadership, those who have passed the baton, and those who have stepped up to the plate to serve their club and district for the 2021-2022 Rotary year.
As we look ahead I want us to focus on the four strategic priorities of Rotary so that we can grow more to do more. The theme of Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta perfectly encapsulates the need to help others: Serve to Change Lives. We can bring in new members, grow The Rotary Foundation, support efforts to eradicate polio, and continue our commitment of service; my four basic and essential goals for the year.
In the coming months, I will be visiting clubs, attending service projects, and working to help train others to assume a leadership position with clubs and the district. I look forward to meeting members and discovering the excitement of Rotary that exists in all corners of District 5110.
Best regards to all for a spectacular Rotary year of service.
