Here is an opportunity to help out with replanting vegetation along Jackson Creek. The Middle Rogue Steelheaders club will be out doing that this Saturday morning and is still looking for some volunteers. I can’t make it but thought I would forward this to any Medford Rotarians who are willing and able to step up this weekend. Below is the request from the Middle Rogue Steelheaders club:
REQUEST FOR HELP WITH UPCOMING RIPARIAN PLANTING:
We had a signup for this planting at the general meeting in October but can use some
additional members to help plant approximately 150 trees and shrubs this coming weekend.
We will be in our own group, separated from other planting groups but still need to wear
masks and maintain distancing as much as possible.
WHEN– 9:30AM, Saturday, Nov. 14
WHERE– Jackson Creek. Meet on east side of Jackson Cr. bridge on Twin Creeks Crossing Rd., near intersection with Grant Rd., Central Point.
PARKING– along shoulder of Grant Rd. just before intersection with Twin Cr. Rd. or in general
neighborhood on side streets.
DIRECTIONS– From north or west of Central Point: Take I-5, Exit 40 (Gold Hill), at exit stop sign turn right onto Old Stage Rd. heading east,
go approx. 6.2mi. to Taylor Rd. turn left onto Taylor. Go 0.9mi. to Grant Rd., turn left onto Grant and go 0.4 mi. to Twin Creeks Crossing Rd. and
park on wide shoulder just before intersection. Walk across Jackson Cr. bridge.
From Exit 33, Central Point: At exit stop light turn left heading west on East
Pine St., go through downtown area, cross Hwy. 99 (Front St.) and cross over to railroad
tracks staying in right lane and go 100ft. to stop light and turn right onto Haskell.
Go 0.2mi. and turn left onto Taylor Rd., go 0.7 mi. and turn right onto Grant Rd.
Go 0.4 mi. to Twin Creeks Crossing and park on shoulder of Grant.
BRING– Face mask, Gloves, sturdy footwear, rain gear. It is predicted to be cool and rainy.
SUPPLIED– Coffee, water, snacks. A lunch will be provided about noon but you must let me know ahead of time if you want to stay for it.
NOTE: We will pick up tools from our tool trailer. Our planting area is about 300 yards upstream from the bridge. Planting holes are supposed to be predrilled for us!
