Dear Rotarian,
In light of recent Oregon Law announced on 3.16.20 that bans gatherings of more than 25 people for at least a month, the Rogue Valley Country Club banquet room will be closed until at least April 16th. The Board has unanimously voted to suspend weekly meetings up to and including Tuesday, April 14th given the circumstances and to ensure the health, safety, and security of our Club members.
Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. It is strange to think we are in the midst of history in the making. In the spirit of Rotary fellowship during this time of social distancing, I would like to propose a weekly newsletter of sorts that compiles anecdotes of what is going on in your lives while we cannot meet. This will connect us during our time away. Please e-mail me what you would like to share and I will compile into a weekly format.
Today was the first day of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. It was an auspicious occurrence as it was the earliest that the North American equinox has occurred in 124 years. Today the sun appeared to rise exactly east and set exactly west. Daytime and nighttime are often said to be equally long with the equinox. As to why the vernal equinox is so early this year, has to do with Leap Year back in 2000, but that is a story for another day!
Please remember to send me your anecdotes and know that we are all in this together and will all get through this together.
Yours in Rotary Service,
Michelle Corradetti, President
