Dear Rotarian,
A lot of my fondest childhood memories are times spent in swimming pools. Growing up in Winnemucca, there was a place next door to the outdoor municipal pool that had strawberry ice cream with real strawberries mixed in. One of those cones and an afternoon at the pool defined Summer to me. Winnemucca then built an indoor pool and swim team evolved! I can still recall those early morning practices with the cold showers before diving in and swimming laps in preparation of upcoming swim meets. I loved the camaraderie of the team and them cheering me on in the meets and practices!
This week at Rotary we have the pleasure of hearing Rich Rosenthal of the Medford Parks and Recreation Department present information about the City of Medford’s proposed indoor recreation facility development plan on the Howard Memorial Sports Park property. In reviewing the initiative, I love how forward-thinking the project is and how it will benefit many generations to come.
Please join me this Tuesday for a fun afternoon of Rotary fellowship and hearing how this project can help build community here in the Rogue Valley. Also, please remind your children and grandchildren that no Baby Ruths are allowed near the pools (aka the “Caddy Shack” doodie)!
Yours in Rotary Service,
Michelle Corradetti, President
